Hand Launched VTOL Missile
In today’s asymmetric battlefield, and lessons learned from recent combat operations, having an organic strike ability is critical for multi-dimensional environments, competing against emerging peer and near-peer threats instead of waiting and coordinating non-organic fire support. Such indirect fire support takes time to coordinate, is extremely expensive when employed, and is often unavailable.
Small units in contact must have organic, lethal, and long-range capabilities to catch the enemy by surprise from the air. Ground and Special Forces need to be independent on that battlefield, must be lethal and surprising without exposing themselves to the enemy or relying heavily on indirect fire support. FTS's Point Blank is a hand-launched VTOL (Vertical Take-Off & Landing) precision strike missile with hovering capabilities. The ability to hover is used for observation above the target's area in complex, multi-dimensional environments, in order to acquire a target for immediate attack (the soldier is in-the-loop). If the soldier decides NOT to engage a target or doesn't find one, he can simply return the Point Blank back "Home" directly to his hand, and deploy the VTOL missile at a more opportune moment.
The Point Blank missile weighs about 10 kilograms and is about 1 meter long. It can fly at altitudes around 500 meters, at a maximum speed of 80 m/s and can hover or loiter in the air while the target’s nature and exact position is confirmed prior to attack. Thanks to FTS’s advanced manufacturing technologies, the Point Blank hand missile can carry electro-optical systems to validate and collect surveillance information in real time, and is equipped with an advanced warhead to neutralize the target.
With its Hand-Launch ability, the Point Blank tactical missile can be simply deployed and used in any scenario on land, against both moving and stationary targets, which can be personnel, light unarmored vehicles, or posts. Thanks to its light weight, small dimensions and simple deployment, a team of 4 troops can carry 4 bags with 6 Point Blank missiles, and be ready to operate them within 2-4 minutes on any asymmetric battlefield.
