Multi-Sensor Gunfire Detection System
Battlefield situational awareness is of paramount importance for the survival and success of units engaged in combat. Achieving this is a complex process that requires discipline, experience, and effective tools. Often, the necessary information only begins to arrive when the enemy fires its first shots. At this critical juncture, accurately locating the source of the fire and quickly suppressing the shooters becomes the highest priority for survival.
ThunderBullet (ELO-5220p), a high-performance Gunfire Detection System (GDS) incorporating SWIR Electro-Optics and acoustic sensors, answers the need for instant detection, geo-location, and alert of fire from small arms, snipers, machine guns, medium caliber cannons, subsonic handgun munitions, and RPGs.
By effectively integrating two different sensor technologies, ThunderBullet achieves: better range accuracy; low false alarm rates; the ability to better cope with different environmental conditions, including dense, echo rich, urban environments; and shortens the sensor to shooter cycle. The system can automate remote-controlled weapon system (RCWS) response using slew-to-cue integration.
Part of FTS’s operationally proven OTHELLO product family, ThunderBullet’s unique compact design and simple interface facilitates easy installation on all-terrain vehicles, Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFV), Main Battle Tanks, autonomous unmanned platforms, paramilitary, and VIP vehicles. Infantry and special forces can use the manpack version for dismounted operations.
ThunderBullet is available with FTS's C2 or can interface with an existing third-party C2 system.
